Teachers' Remarks IV | Yingjia XUE: University is a space of openness where students thrive in freedom of thought, spirit, and exploration

December 26,2024 Stories

University is a space of openness and inclusivity where students should enjoy full freedom of thought, spirit, and academic exploration. — Yingjia XUE

The "Art Lighthouse Project" embarks on a new chapter, with esteemed faculties from across divisions joining this season's Teachers' Remarks IV interview series. This edition features distinguished faculty members who bring profound insights, accomplished backgrounds, and inspiring musical talent to the forefront of music education. Their words of wisdom and experiences will motivate students to explore the vast world of music and find their own direction.

"Studying music, from the initial stages of learning to future career development, is inherently a challenging process. Music itself may not always yield tangible outcomes, but the process of learning music is already a gift. I hope it will accompany you throughout your life."

In this episode, we are delighted to feature Prof. Yingjia XUE, Associate Professor (Teaching) of Piano & Keyboard at the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen. Prof. XUE shares his thoughts on how young people can seize their university years to establish proper life values and perspectives. He discusses the essential knowledge and skills piano performance students should acquire during their undergraduate and graduate studies. Additionally, Prof. XUE reflects on his philosophy of "teaching by example" and offers professional advice on various pathways for students' future planning. Let's listen to his inspiring words!
