Teachers' Remarks III|ZHANG Yue: Incorporate your life experiences into music

May 08,2024 Stories

Incorporate your life experiences into music. — ZHANG Yue

For the "Teachers' Remarks III" interview series, we invited faculty members from various divisions of the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen. These are individuals with outstanding achievements and rich experiences in the music field, who not only engage in performance and guidance as their professional work but also serve as role models for students through their personal charm and musical talent. In the "Teachers' Remarks III" interview series, students will take on the role of interviewers, engaging in in-depth conversations with our faculties. Through their heartfelt words and wisdom, we hope to provide more enlightenment and guidance to the students, helping them navigate the vast ocean of music to find their own direction and goals.

Life is like a movement in a symphony with its ups and downs. Every single note carries our laughter, tears, dreams, and pursuit. Integrating life experiences into music is to turn deeply hidden emotions, memories, and encounters into melodies that flow through every moment; by weaving our life experiences into music, we transform our stories, feelings, and journeys into timeless tunes to share with the world. We play the melody of our youth, hearts filled with dreams and anticipation, charging ahead with courage. Those fearless adventures, like high-spirited movements, ignite the vitality of youth; those heart-warming memories, like soothing melodies, warming our souls and lighting up our life's path. Let every note pulse with the vitality of life, and let each movement in our symphonic journey bear witness to the beauty of our lives.

In this issue of "Teachers' Remarks III," we invited ZHANG Yue, Lecturer of Piano & Keyboard at the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen. Let's hear from Dr. ZHANG Yue's views on "Upon entering the campus, how should young people set sail on their vibrant university life, and what kind of responsibilities and roles will they carry?" He will also share his insights into questions such as "What is essential in the process of learning piano? How to correctly learn and understand the masters' works through listening? and How can one find their style in the process of learning piano?" Let's take a look together!
