Ms. XU Xiaoyu
Lecturer
XU Xiaoyu currently serves as Lecturer and Collaborative Piano faculty at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. She graduated from the Composition and Conducting Department of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2022 and became the first Master of Arts in Opera Coaching at the conservatory. She studied under Prof. Wei Fugen, Prof. Wang Yan, Alessandro Amoretti, Prof. Li Mingyue, and Chi Liming.
XU has collaborated with professional organizations such as Fujian Opera & Dance Theater, Tianjin Opera & Dance Drama Theater, Xi'an Symphony Orchestra, China National Symphony Orchestra, etc. As an opera coach, she has contributed to productions including Letter to the Wife, >The Cloth Peddler, Così fan tutte, Le nozze di Figaro, and Tosca. As a collaborative pianist, she was invited to serve as the vocal coach for the China division of the 2019 Bologna International Vocal Competition and the collaborative piano coach for the 2022 Poly (Tianjin) Orchestral Art Festival. As a choral conductor, she established the Youth Chorus of the Silk Road International Art Center, led the chorus, and successfully hosted several choral concerts and lectures at the Silk Road International Art Center.
In terms of academic research, her paper "An Exploration of the Characteristics of Opera Coach in Rehearsal Practice" was selected for the International Forum on Musical Performance Studies (IFMPS 2023) and delivered a keynote speech; her paper won the third prize in the vocal category of the "Wanye Cup" Paper Collection and Evaluation competition held during the 2022 National Education Conference and was published in the journal "Art of Singing."
