Week of Conducting Practice cum Conducting Final Assessment and Graduation Recital
Stepping onto the podium is not only a professional milestone ¡ª it is a profound confession of becoming a conductor.
To enrich artistic development and deepen practical experience, the Master's students in Conducting Major at the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen, will collaborate with the Chinese-Russian Symphony Orchestra of Harbin Conservatory of Music for the inaugural Week of Conducting Practice. During the course which spans over six intensive days, students will work in close partnership with the orchestra, immersing themselves in the full spectrum of the rehearsal and performance process. The culmination of this week will be two public performances of masterworks from the symphonic repertoire, serving as their final assessment and graduation recital.
This initiative emphasizes practical training and technical refinement on the podium. Students will bring their classroom studies ¡ª score analysis, rehearsal planning, and interpretive insight ¡ª into live rehearsal settings with a professional orchestra. Through direct engagement with orchestral musicians, they will sharpen their gestural vocabulary, develop effective rehearsal communication, and strengthen their artistic leadership ¡ª preparing them for the next stage of their professional careers.
